Favia turning colors

Need help.. I have had this frag for few weeks but after feeding mysis yesterday today it looks like it's changing colors. Parameters are all in check except nitrates are up to 20. First picture is before 2nd picture is today

What’s the concern? Tank looks new. Parameters all in check is vague though.

Concern is it just looks different then before. Parameters are
Calcium 400
Kh 12
Nitrate 20
Nitrite 0
Ammonia 0
Ph 8.2
Salinity 1.025
Phosphate around 0. Using normal test so not perfect.just ordered new kit and to test for mag.

If you mean turning colors like bleaching, well it looks like it is at the top of an arch. What par is this in?

If you mean shifting color palette, well corals can do that based on tank conditions like nutrients, like, spectrum etc.

Reduce white intensity which look bright in pic with coral showing slight bleaching with possible of its energy and coor source known as zooxanthellae. This coal best under moderate light and water flow and feed mysis 2-3X per week in lieu of plankton foods like reef roids.
Assure phos is not elevated. Is tyhis a newer tank? If so, not an ideal first coral as tank will go through through several spikes and chemistry changes.

Yes it few months old. In biocube 32 stock lighting. I have zooplankton and phytoplankton and reef roids only used once until I get better testing to monitor levels. Tank was started with wet live rock live sand and water from local reef store from there reef tank.

Don't worry about my question until someone chimes in for sure. I'm using your thread to learn myself. I know some salt mixes IO orange mix with higher dkh. So I don't think I'm barking up the correct tree.

Probably reacting to being fed the mysis I would not worry my coral love mysis .

My coral knowledge is limited at this point, but, I’ve heard that high Alk with low nutrients can cause burnt tips for SPS. I’m not sure if it would cause issues with other types of coral though.

If you have certain types of SPS, you may be rising burnt tips, possibly from skeletal growth faster than tissue can keep up.

I’d boost the nitrate to 7-10 ppm if alk is above about 9 dKH.

Raise the nutrients!! :)

(I’m speaking from personal experience). I tried low nutrients and higher alk and it was an absolute disaster. Many of my sps corals looked just like yours (I even had some losses). High alk and low nutrients is a big no-no in SPS.

I know that drill. I have a 6 year old clownfish I never wanted. She has a sweet mixed reef 14g AIO though.
