Welcome to the Reef2Reef POTM Contest - Photo of the Month

Sponsored by Avast Marine!

This month's subject -top down shot

Deadline to Enter: 28th Feb, 2021 at 11:59 pm (EST)

Looking forward to a colorful POTM this month and expecting amazing picture from all ! Remember, the photo has to have been taken by you, and the subject has to be in your aquarium. A bit of info aroud the subject you chose and why you chose ot as well as info about how the shot was take is always appreciated.

This is a photo contest after all and we're looking for the best photograph. Yes, you can use a post-editing product to better your pictures. In fact, we encourage it.
Few tips:
- Avoid light reflections by shotting at an angle or better yet taking the lense underwater in top down boxes.
- stabilizing the camera is tricky in such shots so leaning your elbows or forearms on glass braces or top of the glass helps to keep camera steady.
-experiment with different angles to shot your subject from to avoid forshortening or distorting your subject.
-faster shutter speeds acheieved with wider apertures and higher ISO will allow you to avoid camera motion or subject motion.
-decreasing water flow helpws decrease motion of polyps on corals.

No limitations on what to shoot: fish, corals, critters, tank views... are all allowed

As always refer to the multiple photography articles or post any questions you might have on the photography forum for better support. Maybe also post a few pictures for suggestions and critique to improve your shots wile preparing for this months contest as well.

Not sure whom you’re referring to. I know I have never won POTM or a free port hole in any contest, but would love to. ;)

Fixing to get real in the POTM contest! LOL
