You can't go wrong with a T5's fixture with proper bulb choice, there proven to be one of the best light sources. That BB will do the job but it really is focused and has little spread outside it's footprint unless hung fairly high off the WL.

The only problem with the T5 is that I don't get the shimmer that I get with LED.

If that is more inportant then growth and color then go with the LED's. Another option is to go with a hybrid fixture like the aquatic life ot ATI powermodule

No... growth and color are paramount.
