Filtration options and why you chose them?

What filtration do you use and why? Berlin,Wet/dry trickle,Refugium,HOB etc. I thought I would like a berlin style with filter socks but honestly, I hate changing socks! And my sump seems louder than My Wet/Dry trickle system I had previously. Im thinking of going back but want to get some opinions here first. Here is what im looking for.

• Quite water exchange
• Less changing of socks or pads
• An over all cleaner sump area with no detritus or loose sand.
• Ease of use when changing filter pads or socks or moving/changing equipment

Any pics of sumps or filtration systems will help me get a better idea of what I want. So post as many pics as you can! I think either way this is going to end up as a DIY project. Thanks for your 2 cents!
