Hello,
Last year, I started thinking about setting up a reef tank. I had always wanted one, but it felt more like a dream than something I could actually do. The biggest challenge is that I live in Romania. Until now, my only exposure to reef tanks was through YouTube videos and visits to public aquariums in Europe. The local fish store in my town doesn’t stock marine life—when they do bring in corals from exporters, they’re usually sold under generic labels like “small” or “medium,” with almost no variety. The prices are also very high compared to places like Germany or the Netherlands. On top of that, I don’t personally know anyone with a reef tank here, and I couldn’t find any local Facebook groups either.
So, I turned to YouTube and AI for research. Channels like Reef Builders and BRStv really inspired me. I eventually got myself a Waterbox 20. At first, I wanted to keep things simple with a low-maintenance setup, but along the way, my plans shifted—I’m now aiming for an LPS-focused tank. I definitely made a lot of mistakes and have had both funny and frustrating experiences, but here’s where my tank stands today:
Fish
My photos are very blue, I need some kind of a filter. I'm open to any suggestions I really want my corals and fish to have a good life.
