Good hitchhikers are always awesome! I LOVE finding those unexpected but interesting critters that sometimes hitchhike into our tanks (not the baddies!).

A nice sized brittle star.
It wouldn't be a big deal now but it was my first batch of live rock to go into my first saltwater tank and I didn't even know what a brittle star was at the time. I was so excited to see the baby octopus

Probably the most interesting was some sort of sea cucumber that has recently appeared in my tank. I added a tigertail several years ago, but this one is far smaller and has a totally different pattern.

I don't have a pic anymore, but I like getting those pink acro crabs in acropora colonies. They just don't seem to last very long. Not the gorilla crabs though! Lol.

... pistol shrimp. I have so many of those things, it's getting a bit absurd. I haven't gotten a headcount, but I'd estimate there's somewhere around a dozen. I had originally counted 7 as I put the live rock in my tank, but there must have been some hiding away in the rock. This is from about 25lbs of ocean rock, it's crazy. Some of them are at least 2.5" long.

Many years ago in my first reef tank I bought a rock encrusted with zoas. They never opened that much. I eventually found a zoanthid spider. I personally wouldn’t call it an “interesting” find. More terrifying. It me goosebumps!

No real threat. Just another cool critter to have.
