Hey guys, I am a newbie that is still learning. I came home to see my fire fish dead. I had clowns die of brook about 3-4 weeks ago but I treated the tank with ruby rally pro. Salinity is at 1.025. Corals are doing Pretty good it seems. The anemone was looking weird and shrunk ever since the clowns died. To my eyes it doesn’t seem like there was any signs of disease on the fire fish. I attached pictures.

if it was only 3-4 weeks ago, the tank still has disease. Needs to be fallow for 6 weeks I believe. Post what your parameters are and a fish medic can advise.

The fish was already in the tank before the clowns died, I just treated it in the main tank with ruby rally pro, vetteguy said that would work

The fish looks quite thin. What have you been feeding and how often? How much was it eating/has it been?
These guys don’t readily get brook the way clowns will (to my knowledge) so that wouldn’t be my first guess.

Yes it is thin. I try feeding it but he’s usually just hiding these past couple days. He used to come out a lot. It was eating if it did come out though. I would feed flakes.

Based on what you guys are saying, it could be that it starved to death, but it was fine yesterday and he came out and ate 2-3 days ago.

Do you have other fish in the tank? Since you say its been hiding these past few days, is something else bullying it?

The only other fish I had were the clowns, after the clowns died, he started coming out more and would be out a lot but recently like this past week he has been hiding. Also one more thing, I will do a fallow for the next 1 month and a half but I have a question, after that I need to get a fish right? Since I have my corals and I need my tank to mature.

Firefish can develop brooklynella. Rally Pro doesn’t always work, but it is safe for invertebrates, so people make that compromise.
With no other fish in the tank, you can let it go fallow for 45 days.

You don’t need fish to have healthy corals. There are plenty of ways to get nutrients that don’t involve fish.

Ok thanks for the help. After the 45 days, is there a fish I can get that would be good while waiting for my tank to get mature and stable?

What were you feeding it as it was thin and may have been feeding off its liver. While this fish can too get brook, how do clowns look and long did you treat with Ruby Rally?

Well, that’s tough to say. I would buy tank raised fish or pre quarantined fish though, unless you are going to quarantine your own fish going forward.

Treated for recommended 3 days but I did it wrong and had the carbon running so I redid it so technically 6 days

In terms of water changes, do I need to do them? There are no fish in the tank only coral.

So to sum it up, I should just fallow for 45 days, and then maybe get 1 fish and wait for my tank to get mature and stable? After it gets mature I will slowly start adding fish.

No fish for 6 weeks and for treatment , its two 3 day treatments. You were short on treatment interval. I recommend Three applications 3 days apart
