I'm not familiar with "buffering properties" what does that provide?

Stability. I had so many diatom issues. I believe that to be related to silica levels.

Ok here is the final product. The cycle has started and the ammonia is .5 ppm and the ph is 7.8. I ordered some dr Tim's one and only and it will be here tomorrow. Anything else I need to do qt this point besides wait for it to cycle?
