Added my first sps to the new setup. Figured I'd start with an easy one. I believe it's a birds of paradise birdnest, if not its differently some sort of birdnest. Has the purplish polyps with green skin.
Picture is right after being added under kessils at 60% color and intensity.

Congrats on the new coral :) just be warned, when the SPS bug bites, it bites hard :) you'll have a full blown sps tank before you or your wallet know what hit you :D

Thanks, I've been bit before and know all too well. Had a lot of nice sps at the lfs but wanted to test the tank first before spending getting in too deep. Already have the next one lined up though, had a nice jack o lantern lepto with my name on it and some purple stylo.

Nice birdsnest. I think it is a seriatopora... a thick branch birds nest. Birds of paradise to me is a little greener.
Thanks, the lfs said it was a bird of paradise as well but who knows, everything always gets mislabeled. I'll have yo see how it colors up at it grows. Either way I like the coloration of the piece.

Yeah, I actually have both in my tank and I’m leaning towards a thick branch birds nest. But, once it grows, you will be able to easily tell and they do get huge.

It’s funny. Now that I posted these pics, Im thinking it is birds of paradise. Lol. Time will tell. It is a beautiful piece nonetheless.

Thick branch birds nest.

This is Purple Stylophora, just so you know. Seriatopora is the genus for BN species. OP your frag looks a lot like BOP birdsnest.

That's what I was thinking too. I'll be getting that in the future as well I love purple stylo.

Congrats! And yeah it does. I stuffed 30 ish different pieces of sps into my 40g breeder along with lps and zoas but still think I have more room for another piece or two!

May steady prarmeters be with you:)
