First sump...noisy, sucking air...suggestions?

Hello!

So I'm just setting up my first tank with a sump...and its constantly spitting out air into the sump, which is noisy...and annoying...and just doesn't seem right.

Setup:

Run elbow or 45 Degree into water and will be very quiet (you have to submerse it)

You mean the output, right? It makes a lot of noise due to all the air it produces.

On the very top of intake pipe is a cap-
Is there a hole in it? If so- Is there a tube in the hole?
If not drill a 3/6" hole and place a rigis tube otherwise airline tubing into it and should silence it

There is a hole in the top of the tube but no tube in it.

Is that a single drain line on picture right with a single return line on picture left?

Can't really see your setup in that picture. Can you get a couple of angles on your overflow and also how it goes into the sump?
If you're using a Durso, the U-shaped tube with the hole draws quite a lot of air. I have a 3-hole overflow, with the main being just an open hole.

do you put enoufh tubing to touch the inside pop water or just a small piece

Looks like it's getting more water from the pump than the standpipe can handle silently. It's just how Dursos are.

small piece- mine is 2.5" with no contact with the water. The hole is a siphon break and the tube pulls the air youre getting below. Also assure water is not coming down faster than pump can deliver back to the tank

I put a length of tube into the hole on top of my return pipe to reduce siphon. I run a 2000 liter per hour return on a 120 liter tank. It's pretty quiet. Usually

I took a few additional pics to help explain things. My sump is not set up the best yet. I have a filter sock and holder coming soon for it to drain through, and I have a skimmer that I'll attach later, after there's actually livestock in the tank.

I have an overflow just like yours and I use a Herbie style drain with the return run up the back of the tank and over the top. It's dead silent.

I believe the flex hose is part of issue as it causes gurgling due to all the ribs in the hosing. hard piping would be ideal but once filter sock is installed, assure hose travel is straight down.
The piping on top, a tube should be inserted for proper venting. I have durso and my tank is dead silent.

Have you ever seen or tested Maggy Mufflers Vetteguy? Thinking about using those on of my Stand Pipe overflows in my 300 when I convert it to salt just to get rid of the last little bit of gurgle I have, but possibly when I eliminate the Eshopps flex hose from my system that removal of turbulence in flow will do it, your thoughts?
