Hello everyone,

So I have a 125 reef ready tank with an older Eshopps reef sump with the 7” rectangular filter socks and would like to switch to a fleece roller. One of my problems is that the tank has two drains and the sump has the divider for the socks. Every fleece roller I’ve seen has only one intake so I’m not sure how I would hook everything up with the tank having dual overflows. The other problem is that the divider for the socks makes it impossible to fit any roller in the sump and I don’t feel comfortable modding it. I looked at the klir di-7 to drop into one of the filter sock holes, but am unsure if that will fit. Any help would be appreciated.

Would you be able share a picture? My guess would be you’ll have to mod it in some way.

Could you plug one drain? Get a special plumbing piece to y it together. There’s man ways to do this, not just as a Y. Link one into the other via a hub.

Or could you simply let one bypass the roller?

I think its bacuse most sumps have a separate chamber from where the drains drain into, then flowing over a baffle into the filter sock area. I have two drains as well and this is the case for me. A picture of your sump would help us help you.

Sorry that should have been included in the original post.

This is the sump where the filter socks go. I use the baskets with filter floss, but removed them for the photo. That center part is what I’m concerned about removing. I don’t want to remove it and then not be able to use anything if the roller doesn’t work out.

This is how it’s set up from the side.

Hmm yea that’s a little tough. I would love to hear what others think. But initially I wonder how that flow would work if you T’d them together. I don’t think that’d be immediately desirable now that I think about it.

It’s easy to judge from the couch but I would love to say you could cut out the middle beam/bracket and it wouldn’t be too crazy to glue/fix back if it’s just for socks and floss.. but I know I would try to avoid it; until I couldn’t.

I would try to look for 2 rollers that’s fit each spot conveniently and redirect both pipes to each. Idk if something boxy like clarisea would be ideal or not.

Another bad idea, but depending what fits… rollers like redsea have either left or right plumbing capability…. But I bet it’d be too much flow to have em both running in both sides… not to mention the room required probably isn’t there. But the optional legs on the rollers might help as well.

Sorry not much help, really digging myself a hole here lol

I think the Red Sea one has a left and right option to plumb. So I’d think you’d be able to buy an additional hose and plumb in to. I’m honestly not sure you have the space to do that though

I've seen many dual drain tanks "Y" or "T" both supply lines into one hole on the fleece roller..no issues. Or you can do the other, and do one drain into the fleece roller and another just into the compartment on the sump that the fleece roller is in.. the one drain missed the fleece roller the first time around, but with the turnover rate of a tank and sump set up, it'll all flow through the fleece roller at some point..no harm, no foul.

I did that on 1 of my redsea 1200, it come with 1 connecter, but on the roller filter it have 2 connecter, so i bought one more connector and i use both connector.
