I am in the process of installing a 72"x30" 200g glass tank (IM Nuvo 200g peninsula) in my living room. It will sit perpendicular to the floor joists (so it will rest on 5 of them) and one of the long sides of the tank will sit directly on top of a 2x6 load-bearing wall. The joists are 16" on center 2x10s with a 150" span. Picture shows roughly where the tank will be placed on the floor above. In terms of the joists and the location being above a load bearing wall, I think it is probably fine, but would love to hear others thoughts.
The floor under the tank is 4 ft. long ceramic tiles. Would you be worried about breaking the ceramic tile in the even there was a little bit of flexing in the floor? I am in the process of finishing the basement below, and could potentially incorporate some structural support below the tank into a built in cabinet system, but is it necessary? Doing so would make the project a lot more complex, but if it might be needed, I can do that.
Thanks in advance!
