My Tank Thread
My fluoride has been on the lower side for the last few ICPs and as per many key reef farmers videos I'm seeing that its an important factor for coral health and coloration so i decided to dose to raise it.
as I was rather very low it took about 4-5 liters of dosing to raise it to near the correct value as its a large system and I was dosing around 30% of recommended volume and waiting to validate the raise on next ICP after couple months... so basically some consumption or drop from salt was happening as well. reason for the slow dosing is that it seems fluorine can be toxic at higher levels so i took it very slow.
I am now at 1.23 mg/L while triton recommends 1.3 mg /L
recommendation was to dose 350 ml to up the levels. my total system volume is 5000 liters.
i couldn't get any triton solution locally and shipping chemicals isn't easy around here. so I went for a lab grade sodium fluoride powder.
want to replicate the concentration for the solution for easier dosing and safer dosing per day as I have the max to dose per day from previous ICP instructions....
-per my calculation for 5000 liters dosing 350 ml to raise fluorine by 0,07 means their concentrating is 1Gram fluorine per liter ?
-i can add 1 gram of my powder sodium fluorine per liter but that seems very low ? also how about the sodium content any idea of the typical ratio of sodium and fluorine ?
-finally what concertation is best for a dosing solution so it doesn't precipitate in the solution and how long does it last as I bought 1 KG. is it best to store as powder and mix before use or just mix a big batch at which concertation and use for months....
Thanks for any info.
