Hello, I’m looking to add fish into my Fluval evo 13.5 gallon. I’m 100% set on clownfish but I’m unsure if the tank would be too small for what I want. My favorite pick would be a maroon clownfish; can I have a single maroon clownfish in this tank or should I stick to one or two ocellaris?

I couldn’t imagine a maroon in a 13.5. They get big - it would be like keeping a Doberman in your bedroom.

Even occys get borderline too big, but they don’t really stray far from their host anemone.
As for tankmates, any clown will likely give anything my else a hard time. My pair definitely won’t tolerate anyone else in their space.

DO YOU USE A PAR METER WHEN PLACING NEW CORAL IN YOUR TANK?

  • Yes! I think it's important for the longterm health/growth of my coral.

  • No. I don't measure PAR and my corals are still healthy/growing.
