1. Do you keep a clam?
Yes, we have two.

2. What type of clam is it? I think both are Max

3. How long have you had it? One has been in the tank for about 6 months, the other 2 months.

4. Where do you have it placed in your tank? Each is on the sand bed, on their own chunk of flat rock.

Check out my tank build, you will see a couple pictures of the clams.

Ok that was dumb but I do have some questions for you! I have a clam coming tomorrow, first for the "new" tank and it got me thinking about how many are actually currently keeping a clam.

1. Do you keep a clam?

2. What type of clam is it?

3. How long have you had it?

4. Where do you have it placed in your tank?

I have a maximal. It's really beautiful. It's placed high in my 25 Fusion Lagoon. It definitely likes high light and good flow. I've been feeding it reef nutrition phyto feast. Seems to be pretty happy. One question however. When I do water changes can a maxima be out of the water for any amount of time. So far I haven't exposed it but I'd like to do larger water changes at one time. Right now I've been doing them incrementally.

Your clam will be fine if exposed to air for a short time. On some reefs there are reports of some being exposed for hours so a little time while doing a water change I would not worry about.

Will this guy color up more or is it a muted species?

Derasa Are not as pretty I guess but as long as It’s healthy I don’t care. Any tips to bring out the most color I can get?

Clams mantle color can depend on the light it gets with the amount zoox produced. If it's a new acquisition give it time to photo adapt to it's current environment. It's important to slowly acclimate clams to more intense light than what they were under. Derasa, while needing light are not as needy of intense light compared to crocea, maxima.

Hey there. Did you get your Phyto-Feast from License to Krill? I live in Santa Cruz as well. Good to see reefers on here from The Cruz.

I take it the hippo on the left didn’t make it? Looks full on gaping. :(
Yeah unfortunately these from L.A. don't last. Trying to figure out if it's something I'm not doing right during acclimation or something else. Will try to qt better to see if that will help but none of the mail order stuff don't ship well this time of year either it seems. Will have to wait for warmer weather to use up my credits.

I would agree with that 100% but make sure they ship from Florida and not DD ORA in Wisconsin. If you order from the ORA part of live aquara site they come directly from Ora in FL. Don't worry about not sight unseen because they are all amazing.
