It could be a healing wound or just a natural dark spot. Is it acting normal?

Looks to me to be an isopod which have been popping up lately. Give the fish a freshwater dip in tap water the same temperature as display tank and use air stone (optional ) and it should hop off fish. With a magnifier or similar, see if it look like this below. If not, may be blemish

He is acting completely normal tomorrow is his display day so I just wanted to make sure

I think that is just a spot of melanin, possibly from a slight injury, or just like a freckle. It isn’t a parasite because you can’t see any substance or body to it.

That said, if you’ve only had it for two weeks and you haven’t treated it with anything, it very easily could be carrying a subacute infection of flukes or ich, and just not showing signs (yet).

Agreed it doesn’t like like anything other than a patch of color. 15 days isn’t long enough in QT, I’d do metro and prazi at minimum.

I have a grey vlamingi tang that when excited will get patches of black on his belly for no reason. It lasts 10 minutes then goes away. It’s as if his brain signals are misfiring and causing patches of skin to change color, most fish can do this. I’ll post a photo if I can get one the next time I see it.

Its been in full copper for 15 days would you still recommend a fresh water dip?
I will go against the recommendations here and say No don’t do a FW dip for that spot. It isn’t an external parasite.

And nice magnificent foxface, those sure are spendy these days.

No, FW dips don’t cure anything, they are really just a diagnostic tool.

I prefer 30 days of copper and then prazi, but you should at least run 2 doses of prazi 7 days apart.
