Frag tank - substrate or no?

Good morning reefers!
I’m going to start up a 20 gallon frag tank and wondering if I should do substrate or no?
If yes - what kind?

I'm barebottom all the way even DT. I fail miserably trying to keep sand clean. I was at a coral farm last week and didn't see sand in any grow out tanks tho I did not tour the facility so maybe they had some.

Honestly, I wish I could add substrate to my frag tank, simply because it looks better and hides detritus otherwise visible on the bottom.

But at least for me, it’s impractical due to the high flow I keep for growing SPS.

I do play with the idea of adding small ruble or crushed coral on the ground.

Bare bottom for that. Makes it easier maintenance.

Reborn media is good too just expensive. I like the idea of crushed coral
