Crazy Hybrid Hammer x Frogspawn Coral Discovered in Bali Indonesia Euphyllia, Frogspawn Coral, hammer coral Reef Builders | The Reef and Marine Aquarium Blog
https://reefbuilders.com/2016/10/05/hybrid-hammer-x-frogspawn-coral/

I believe I have the species of coral as shown in the article, same color and everything. Bought as a hammer x frogspawn as a single “head” for $40. It’s split into four “heads” but they aren’t really distinct branching heads like you see in a lot of euphyllia. They are very close together, the flesh is all connected, and has four seperate mouths in what appears to be one large “head”.

Here is an old photo. It’s definitely grown since. I’ll try to get an updated photo when I get home tonight.

For sure not octo. It's a mix of round and hammer/anchor tips so it's a frammer aka hammer x frogspawn hybrid. I've got a golden/brown one I got from Aqua SD sold as a hybrid. Certainly rarer than regular frogs or hammers but not super rare. I think I paid about $70 for two heads but I'm not sure on that.

Have a picture? I would also be interested if you happened to be selling. Ahaha

Sorry guys. I've never shipped and I also have some flatworms that I wouldn't want to pass along. I'll try to get a decent pic later today.

I have one in the bottom right sold to me as a frammer. It has hammers in addition to the occasional runner. It’s about 7-8 heads prob. Can’t see it good in the pic I’ll get a better pic tonight. I also have two hammers top left and pinkish octospawn on the left structure as well.

No frammers are totally a thing. They're not hybrids just look like a hybrid between a hammer and a frogspawn. They're a species of euphyllia all their own I just can't remember right off the top of my head. They're not necessarily rare as much more uncommon then hammers frogspawns and octo and also more highly sought after. All that equates to more valuable. A regular green one like yours is usually about 75-100 per head. Google euphyllia frammer coral and you can easily find more info on them. You have a nice piece!

I have a similar one as @VTBig053. It was sold to me as a yellow hammer. It looks like the one in the reefbuilders article, but is branching, not a wall.

Someone asked me today if this was a frammer? I never knew that was a thing.

It's the same piece pictured in my avatar which has about a dozen heads now, started as a single head in March 2017. I purchased it as a hammer for $45 at a LFS.

They’re super fast growers

Here are a few frammer pics from the past year and a half.

And the most recent shots showing sweepers on top...

...and more knobby growth on the bottom heads which receive more flow.

Here's a baby I plucked off it midsummer as a rice sized frag. It is already bigger than this pic which is a month old.

My hammer. With all the non-hammer shaped tips I’ve wondered if it’s a frammer or just a hammer with lots of round tips.
