Frog Spawn

I have had my frog spawn since November and for some reason body of it looks black. Is that normal? Picture attached.

Maybe some sponge growing on it.

If you mean the stalk then yeah. Just something growing on it/its an old stalk. They get pretty dark after awhile. You will see the new growth be white as can be though.

Have you tried using a turkey baster and blow off the base?

Mine has had something similar for a while with no issues.
