Fyi I have 2 mp10s on my 180 and have no issues with them staying on. Just make sure you secure the wire above the dryside to the glass

I've been reading that as well, seems to be a mixed bag of luck.

If there's any vibration or any torque applied (i.e. a bump during maintenance, a snail gets in, et al.) it'll just be easier than usual to knock off the glass.

Tying the wiring to the glass is a part-solution. Doesn't do anything for the wet side, which becomes an in-tank bomb. I've had an mp40 wet side mash a beautiful digitata colony.

If your glass-size is a borderline fit per EcoTech, I'd seriously hesitate. This is one of the pump's Achilles heels.

I'm on the fence. They'll be positioned on the back glass that is right next to a wall so I'm not overly concerned with the motor getting bumped and with my scape there won't be much it could hit. I've got three MP40QDs and can't find a good position for the third and feel two of the MP10 would be perfect for each side of the overflow.

If that's the role, maybe get a couple little Turbelle® nanostream® 6020's instead.

• Magnets could be upgraded if needed
• The pump is much less-fragile
• They're easier to place out of view (i.e. it's possible)
• They're much easier on the pocketbook – even the controllable Turbelle® nanostream® 6040 is a better deal.
• Not to mention there'd be a warranty :)

Tunze pumps are nice, no doubt. But I prefer the programming options of the Vortechs, especially when coupled with other pumps and a WXM module. Not to mention the footprint.

The WXM costs as much as another pump, so you've got a good argument for getting all the use out of it that you can. The MP's might be the best option even on this basis alone.

And there's certainly no harm in spending more than needed on the pumps (that may even be half the fun!) – I just doubt you'd find that those features make a lot of difference in practice...especially in this role.

Footprint is a wash in my book: the MP has to be placed in view – you're lucky the motor will be behind the tank or you'd be stuck looking at that too. ;) The Tunzes are about the same size, but can be placed completely out of view, or even hidden within the rocks.

Not sure that's enough to recommend them in this case, however! :)

I've already got the WXM and used at a good price. If you've got it, use it!

I've already paid for the pumps, trying to trade for them now, although the Gyre would work just as well given my rock work.

Tunzes are great pumps. I've had them, they're beasts. There are pluses to the Vortechs and there are pluses to Tunzes just as there are negatives to both.
