@siggy I'm looking at that skimmer, Octo Regal 15oss. Do you have to remove chaeto from the impeller often? How easy is it? Is it worth the $500?
Hello, Love the skimmer when chaeto is holding tight, its when I clean the fuge or harvest the chaeto I get little floating strands in the impeller it forces me to clean the entire skimmer which I probably should do anyway. Ill bet future sumps (Triton) will have a filter holder between chambers to prevent this with any skimmer, I jam a big wad of floss for a few days in the weir after cleaning. The regal is nice with the dc pump and the float switch, built like a tank and I hope is the last one I buy for a long time....love that controller!
@siggy Did you ever get that Octo Pulse wavemaker?
yes I did and am real happy with it. I got the octo 2 to supplement my mp40 and I would trust the octo to supply the hole tank if needed for a day or two, the 4 must be a monster. Nice controller too, you get to see whats going on (indicators) I can see the great debate between MP'S & Octo's comming soon

@siggy I'm looking into getting an Octo Pulse on a Sea Sweep and need to know the diameter of the control cord with the nut on the end to know if it's small enough to fit up through the hole in the Sea Sweep. I was wondering if you could measure it for me? That would be much appreciated.

@siggy do you have your Octo Regal skimmer on 3rd party control with your Apex? I'm thinking when I set up mine I'll do it that way so when my skimmer float switch trips it will send me an alarm. Also when the Apex goes into feed mode, it will dial down the skimmer motor power so it doesn't power off completely. Easier on the motor powering down a bit versus power off completely. And you still won't get skimmer to go nuts with excess organics while in feed mode.

First< I forgot to get your measurements, I have the day off tomorrow and will try to remember. No i haven't gotten around to that yet, To many Honey Do's to play with the tank gadgets although I am reading up on my GHL doser and will be putting that on line when time permits, 45 page manual  I did swap out my ATK for a tunzie :) 20180721_114707.jpg

What mode do you have your Octo Pulses at? Can you get us a recent FTS? Looks like you haven't posted one since Feb. I had to send my Regal 150sss skimmer back wouldn't fit in my sump. No need for measurements on the Octo control cord Coralvue provided me with them via email, had to email them for something else as well.

Well I Dove into my tank yesterday Pulled half of my Live rock and acid washed it along with some new pieces I grabbed from Lfs, He is pulling his old stuff and replacing with the man made stuff:confused: I got tonga branch and some old school Fuji (cauliflower) and a piece of Pukani, I'm really stoked. The tank also had sea peas and high po4 so I am going to do a deep clean the shell base a series of water changes. The fuge was growing algae faster than the chaeto so I scraped the walls and scrubbed and removed that. I have been selling a few corals to the shop for credit, the orange shrooms are something else I must get a new one every week. The wwc/jf zoas grow like weeds they grow in two colors florescent orange and green and are nice, Im not a zoa nut so try to keep them under control

The sump is nasty, thats 3 weeks growth, there must be some truth to a fuge light out competing with display lights, well here's proof. The fact I dont have nitraits still baffels me even dosing No3 I ran a series of testes yesterday and still only showing 2 but corals have nice colors. now check this coral's color It did this when I had 0 po4 and o no3 , I started feeding oyster feast every day and the side that gets flow turned a nice green and the back stayed brown, the next pic is some acros from Boom and they are happy with the nitrate dosing and my leather is also happy and started reaching out, I removed the marine pure a couple of weeks ago, but hes had good PE for about 6 months although always the same size now he seems to inflate with the defining fingers.

Hey thanks for sticking around. I have my octo and mp40 set to random flow and change it up every now and then, and a full tank shot and a video if I can get it loaded, not sure if I have anything I should hide but what could be worse than the sump;Shamefullyembarrased
