Hey everyone,
I have a 300+ litre reef aquarium with a sump full of bio media (I mean like 2 racks of bio balls, seachem matrix, bio cylinders) and only have a few fish at the moment which are:
- Scopas Tang
- Ocellaris Clownfish Pair
- Yellow Coris Wrasse
- Banggai Cardinalfish
My mate has the same sized tank and has a mixed reef over a few years old and very healthy and looks amazing. Anyway, he is moving and can’t take his tank with him which means he’s selling some of his bigger fish and offered to give me his Convict Tang and his Gold Rim Tang. I was a bit cautious whether they’d be happy in my size tank (Dimensions: 120cm x 45cm x 45cm) but I’ve been told mixed opinions like he says they’ll be fine in there for at least a year or two before they grow out and need bigger or if they end up being a smaller individual fish they’d be able to stay longer, especially considering I have heaps of biological media and a nitrogen cycle as fast as the speed of light, but others tell me it’s not ideal and it’s torture to the fish no matter what. I have plenty of algae for them to graze on and my scopas tang would probably like some help (they have been in the same tank with the scopas too so aggression isn’t likely to be common). Would I be able to put these tangs in happily or not?
