Ok, I have the Cool White LED's replaced.... along with the usual breaking and repair on other LED's, lenses, etc. Took all day to get the old LED's off, scrape off the left-over epoxy and re-glue the new LED's in place...along with the wiring and tie-wrapping.
Here's some pics for you.
Old LED on top, new LED on the bottom. See how much larger it is?
Top LED is a Cree XP-G2, max current = 1500 mA (1.5 amps).
Bottom LED is a Cree XM-L2, max current = 3000 mA (3 amps).
The driver has a max rated output of 1500 mA so, there is no danger of driving too much current through these new Led's. (I did find my driver could go to 1600 mA)
When I first measured the current it was at 1523 mA's which is just above the max rating for the old Cool Whites. I left them run "full-on" a few times to check out how the heatsink cooling fans would do. I think this is what may have dimmed some of the LED'S.........just a guess.
Aaaaah yes, peel and stick lenses, no gluing!
The new size LED's wont fit in the same spot in a couple places. I put them as close as possible.
All new LED's glued in.
So, this......
Now looks like this!
