Ok, I have the Cool White LED's replaced.... along with the usual breaking and repair on other LED's, lenses, etc. Took all day to get the old LED's off, scrape off the left-over epoxy and re-glue the new LED's in place...along with the wiring and tie-wrapping.

Here's some pics for you.

Old LED on top, new LED on the bottom. See how much larger it is?
Top LED is a Cree XP-G2, max current = 1500 mA (1.5 amps).
Bottom LED is a Cree XM-L2, max current = 3000 mA (3 amps).
The driver has a max rated output of 1500 mA so, there is no danger of driving too much current through these new Led's. (I did find my driver could go to 1600 mA)
When I first measured the current it was at 1523 mA's which is just above the max rating for the old Cool Whites. I left them run "full-on" a few times to check out how the heatsink cooling fans would do. I think this is what may have dimmed some of the LED'S.........just a guess.

Aaaaah yes, peel and stick lenses, no gluing!

The new size LED's wont fit in the same spot in a couple places. I put them as close as possible.

All new LED's glued in.

Ok, That's about up-to-date for now. Will be adding more rock and taking care of a few loose ends before filling the tank.

OK, here's an update on the tank.
Angie Charpenter, Kevin and Terry stopped by to help on the aquascaping again. We changed things around a little bit. We added the sand and I am STILL stirring it up and waiting for the water to clear. I am not so sold on live sand....especially this "sugar-fine" size. Here's some pic to update the thread.

Wow....so glad I stumbled across this thread; just read the whole thing. I LOVE so many things about your setup: the sump, all the neat plumbing/electrical/cord management and organization, the beautiful stand/canopy (seriously great work), the DIY LED fixture, the genius canopy lift, and, most of all, love the detailed description and pictures posted regarding nearly every aspect of your build. Thank you for sharing your setup! Please continue to post and update, and I look forward to seeing the tank full of livestock!

A few questions:
How is the biopellet reactor working after changing it to a recirculating type?

In a early pic of your plumbing in the basement, it looks like you have several arcade games! You mind posting a picture of those? I'm a big fan.

You replace all the flower printed furniture yet? Lol

Again, thanks for sharing

Hi, Thanks for the kind words!
I have not powered up the bio-pellet reactor yet, just trying to get the sand to calm down first. The Idea behind recirculating the reactor is to keep water moving through the pellets faster than I am drawing from it. That way I can keep the pellets from clumping and keep the bacteria moving. we shall see how that works in practice.

Yes I have and arcade in the basement. I used to work repairing bowling pinsetters for a time and accumulated about 30 neon beer signs and other trinkets in that time. After starting in the refrigeration field, I now do side work and take my payment in arcade games........5 pinballs, 3 old video games, 1 newer video game and a Skee-ball lane. This is a small house so, I don't have much more room for anything else. The grandkids like Grandpa's house.

And, the flowery furniture ...unfortunately......... remains.

Lots of neat, unique things going on here. Love the stand, lift and the light. Any plans for ventilation inside the stand? I know mine holds in heat and the back is partially open. Glad I stumbled onto this thread this evening. Will be following along...

Thanks! Yes, the canopy is where most of the heat is at this in. I have 2 sets of temperature controlled fans on the Led heat-sink. There is also a large opening in the top of the canopy that lets heat out, I put a grill over the opening to try to block light from getting out and shining on the ceiling. The stand runs fairly cool, haven't needed much air movement there yet.

Gasman Bob plays down how awesome this build is - either out of humility or not knowing how awesome it is.

Either way - Kev and I have been telling him for the last year or so - THIS IS EPIC dude!

Nice to see R2R recognizes the quality of this build as well!!!!!

Told ya Bob!!!

Tank is getting clearer:
