It’s never been with another fish. It went straight into quarantine, but I agree, that’s what it looks looks like. Now it’s fins are completely gone. You bones are sticking out of the top of the dorsal fin so whatever it is, it’s taken the flesh off all the way down. What should I try about the eating? It’s not going to last much longer not eating.
I did 10 days in trifecta and no lights kept fish in the dark. Don’t worry about it eating. It’s too sick to eat now. About three says after the antibiotics then try feeding. It’s in septic shock with the fin loss and bone showing, so it won’t eat. Just follow the trifecta and pray. So sorry for your tang.

I actually saved one that had a similar look.

I put him in a 40 gallon tank with about 2/3 full of perfect water. Water change 50% every day for about a month. I also put in some Seachem medications.

Hello,

I have had amazing luck with my tangs when they won’t eat using garlic guard. I use it daily and if sick I use two capfuls insatead of one. How is he doing and I’m terribly sorry and I really wanted to order one of those 499 gem tangs.

They don't really 'quarantine' the fish. They more like condition them. They are kept as little as two weeks to make sure they appear healthy and eating and only treat for disease is something pops up. You can certainly still get disease from these fish. They usually just arrive in better shape than drop shipped fish since they get a chance to settle a bit and eat.

I’m sure you’d get a healthy fish, but I’d hold off. The prices are only going to continue to drop on them.

Thank you, I was just wondering I’m too afraid of disease to get any more fish these days. :( but it seems like a good price.

The tang is still alive. He might have eaten some mysis yesterday, but at the very least, he was interested in it which is the first time. His fins are pretty much gone. I'll try to get some updated pics later.

If it’s still alive must be pretty tough guy and the antibiotics are working. Keep it up and hope he recovers. Keep us posted.

Sorry, my gem tang didn’t make it despite my best efforts. Whatever it had, it was too much for it.
