getting back into reef keeping

Im just getting back in to the hobby. I just set up my red sea max 250 (65 gal) about a week ago. I 're used the sand and live rock. Starting to get some brown algae build up. I live in north idaho so I havnt meet anyone that lives close to me that's in the hobby. I look forward to meeting some new people.

How often should I do water changes during the cycle

You won't need to do a water change until the cycle is done. ;) It would actually be counter productive since you need the nutrients to feed the beneficial bacteria.
