12-15 years ago I would absolutely paid that much for that Gigantea. However, with using antibiotic it is much easier to get healthy Gigantea now so a healthy one does not worth that much anymore.

I guess it a depends on market... around here we see maybe 1 haddoni a month max at the 8 different LFS that I frequent. Everyone wants BTA s or RFAs maybe an occasional mini maxi. A standard gig or haddoni around here with no great color is 300 to 500. A well established one would be more.

It's not easy to get one with a better price shipped healthy despite the advances we have made with antibiotics.

If it is priced to high for you offer something lower. Where you are more comfortable. It's a reasonable price depending on your situation.

Check with @galactic_coral or Aquatic Collection for good, less expensive anemones including Gigantea.
For really healthy Gigantea that may cost a little bit more but not anywhere near the asking price for this Gigantea check with Bluekai Aquatics

That color morph used to be $40 from Live Aquaria or Blue Zoo and they were pretty common. However, I don't remember the last time either had them in stock. When you consider that this one is an established specimen, then the price increases significantly and I think it's within the ballpark of what someone would be willing to pay.

I'm sure that a lot of us have paid less for the gigs that we have, and we're talking about more colorful ones and not a common tan gig. But these days, particularly given their rarity and popularity, LFS and other retailers are pricing based on demand and what the market will bear. I've seen prices double and triple.

Furthermore, the entire process of QTing a gig from start to finish has a price tag. Even if you pay yourself near mimimum wage for a week of QT ($15/hr x 2 hours x 7 days = $210), plus the cost of supplies (primarily just salt water) you can easily add $250 to the cost of the anemone. If you add in the failure rate, even if it's just one, you double that price and you're right at the $500 range for a gig.

I agree with D-Nak. If one does not want to QT and treat newly import Gignatea, then he just have to pay other people to do this for him if he want a "for sure" healthy Gigantea.

It seems like a fair retail price now days for an established gig. Now I would not pay that much but others surely will. I think about how much people pay for a frag of some acro making that gig down right cheap for what you get.

Plus the store will prob throw in what looks like clarkii or sebae for free.

It’s a dual color gig that’s large and healthy, I see nothing wrong with that price. Everything has gone up since Covid due to increased shipping costs and demand. Ugly BTAs used to be $30, now they’re selling for triple that. The hobby is just getting more expensive, which encourages us to take better care of our animals to keep them alive.
