LFS is holding this for me and I feel pretty sure that it's a gig, but I would like to get a second opinion as I have never seen a helianthus before and I just thought I would ask

I would say it’s a Gig. I had a helianthus once and it’s tentacles looked more like a Haddoni.

I see it is expelling some material from its mouth. It happens, but I would watch it. Definitely quarantine and treat with Cipro.

Good luck!!

Man it's such a bad picture of the foot with that light shining through. It does seem brown in that photo. This LFS is about 2 hrs away from me so if anyone has an opinion, feel to chime in!! One vote for helianthus and one for gig!

It’s a Gigantea mostly. It can be one the Gigantea/Haddoni hybrid. Definitely not Helianthus. We like to see brighter verracue and more pastel foot in true full blooded Gigantea

It is a host anemone for sure. I got two hybrid over the last 10 years or so. It is a lot more common than most people think. They act just in between a Haddoni and a Gigantea. Beautiful anemones also

He won’t unless you force the clownfish into him. I have seen a wild Clarki droves into a Haddoni right out of the bag and got eaten. Why this happened I really don’t know but sometime, only sometime, they need to get acclimated to their anemone even with natural pairing.

I normally treat if a Gigantea or Magnifica deflated after 24 hrs in the tank. Or does not inflated after a few hrs

Well, he is in pretty good shape. Definitely holds his posture very well. The purple verrucae are present and i will take photos of them however, the column is a faint pastel blue when retracted but looks more tan when its fully expanded. Could be a hybrid for sure
