Cord- hiding hack:
I decided to hide some of my cords with extra pvc to clean things up. I just mounted it to the corner of the sump. If you want to try it, just make sure the plug will fit through the pipe and that the bottom of the pipe is above the waterline enough to keep the plug from getting wet when you pull it out.

Well I did the leak test and the only leak I had was the return bulkhead. So I used the wet/dry vac to pump some water out of the display tank. So wet/dry vacs have a learning curve. First, don't attach the hose to the exhaust opening or you'll get air blowing into your tank. This is great if you're at Bellagio, in the bedroom not so much. Also don't let the wet vac get too full. Then you get a flood of Biblical proportions. Luckily I emptied the vac and was able to suck up the water all over the floor. I'm happy to make myself look like an idiot if someone can learn from my mistakes.

We're going through identical growing pains! I too had a leak only at the return bulkhead! LOL! A very small drip. The gasket wasn't lined up perfectly in my case. A little tweak and it was golden! I still have to be careful when I move the flow deflectors inside the tank. Sometimes that tends to unscrew the bulkhead just a hair where it starts to drip. So once I'm done adjusting the return deflectors I need to hold the inside and tighten the outer nut on the bulkhead if need be.

When I turned off the pump and let everything drain, the water level rose above the baffles:
Is this a problem? There's still enough room to handle the topoff reservoir if it ever drained into the sump.

as long as the sump holds all water when the return shuts off I think that's all that matters. However, I am not running a fuge or anything in my sump, not sure if you plan on it and I don't know if that would make a difference.

+1 to this. Do you have a wye check valve on your return line? That should drastically cut back on the back flow into the sump. In any case as long as there is plenty of wiggle room after the drainage which looks like there is you should be fine.
