Hi, @glennf

Mr.Glenn, Its a wonderful set up you have made and I am trying to adapt to the DSR method, I have few doubts as summarised below,
  • When adding pure Sodium chloride (salinity), Pottasium chloride, strontium chloride powders, shall i add the needed quantity in RODI water and then pour it to the sump (individual powder not mixed) or I have to take some water from the display and mix it to it. Please advise.

Hi Glenn, Thanks for updating the tank photos. They never fail to amaze me with how beautiful your tank looks.
Have you got a list of the different fish that you've got in the tank?
Which return pump do you use?
Thanks, Di

Poeh.... i have 6 reeftanks at home now and planning a new 1100 liters system again... i don't even know where to start counting the fish.

Return pump is red dragon 6500, which service 3 tanks with total of 1425 liters

Just watch the pictures...

Glenn your tank has me inspired me to try my hand at the DSR method. I am having your salt and DSR Starter package (with additives) shipped from Seaflower

Hi Glenn,

I was fascinated by your NPS reef, sorry to hear about it's failure. Can you write a brief summary of why it failed, and which species proved most difficult to keep alive? Was it the dendros, crinoids? Did it fail because of non-diverse food sources, or that it proved to be too labor intensive to keep up with the feeding frequency?

Thanks, your aquariums are my inspiration.

If your open minded (it seems you are) it's very logical.
Measure and supplement ...

You know where to ask question.[emoji6]

Failure was due to:
- right food source
- limited species available, making it impossible to fill a tank. Sonther was a need to add other (photosynthetic) corals.
- the mix with nps and sps was a paradox.
- the supporting system had a problem, so i lost inspiration to continue after a while.

Last but not least: it was to labour intensive to do the right way. Target feeding and preparing the right food.

I may try is again some day, but for now i better get some renewed inspiration, by moving forward with new challenges

Hi Glenn, have you considered adding other coralivores to your butterfly reef? Like this guy?
