I had one that lasted 31 days. During that time, I never saw him nip at any corals. I'd be more worried about LPS than SPS with that kind of Angel. They can be hit or miss.

This angel is more likely to "pick" at LPS tissue- some soft coral, or a clam mantle than SPS-
but given the right specimen- a big enough established tank of mature coral, and a regular
feeding schedule- the Goldflake "Can" make for a beautiful reef fish...

It is important to note for readers of this thread to understand fully that there are Generalized fish rules-
and then there are "Qualified Risks" that can "break the rules".
These Qualified Risks should be left to advanced reefers' who have an logged an insane amount of time in research and who are prepared with a contingency plan for extraction and proper housing should the initial intent not become a feasible option for long term housing and health.

I had a Goldflake in my 210 SPS reef tank for 8 months, and he was an ideal citizen. I lightened the fish load and pulled him and had a friend sell him thru his LFS. He ate a ton of corals in the reef he was put into after he was sold, so it may depend on the setup he is in.

Probably be "OK" with "SPS"... probably.

More so you should understand that these can prove to be a very difficult species to acclimate to captivity (as with all Apolemichthys species). They have a long transport period where they rarely begin to eat, and are rarely treated for anything. They almost always come in riddled with flukes. If the specimen has enough fat reserves, and you get it eating relatively quickly, you can put it into prazi and keep fattening it up.

Make sure you have a very well established QT, with algae growth for the fish to pick at, before bringing one in.

I've got a pair of juvis and they're leaving everything in the tank alone (no sps). That being said...they're juvis...

Well I saw that Livequaria is having a special on juv. goldflake angel fish and was wondering about adding one. I know they have the best stuff so I know I would get a great speciman, just wondering about if it would pick on my sps mainly. They have to be easier to keep than a regal, right?
