Good idea for a frag tank?

Im going to be setting up a frag tank soon and i want to join both my 12gal frag tank and 14 gal,mini anemone tank together

Here is my idea...sorry for the not so professional blueprints..lol

SPS and LPS on the left, grass in the middle, anemones and softies on the right...2 tank dividers between frags and softies

Aqua C remora skimmer and marineland h.o.t. magnum canister filter

LED lighting..forgot the name of fixture im looking at once i find it ill post it

Questions:

1.Will this work? Being divided up and stuff

2.Where can i buy tank dividers?

3. Where should skimmer and filter be placed,since there are 3 sections

4.Is grass in the middle a good or bad idea?

5.Do anemones have to have sand to live well? Im putting rock in the softy section, jw about sand

If i come up with any other ?s ill post em

I dont under stand the section or divided areas very well.Maybe a you could do a "paint" picture or somthing?

Anemones dont need sand to live unless its a sandweller anemone.

Yes they need to be devided nems will sting your other coral or are known to. buy the 40G breader and go to your glass shop and get a peace of glass that fits in the middle. That will devide the two tanks. Put the skimmer on the Drill both ends and use a 90 dagree elbow and a tee to make both ends meet in the bank. Then make them both drain to a 10G sump and make it shoot back up via return pump.

Okay,so like,will the panes of glass be below the water line?If they arent,thats would mean there is 3 setions of water all separate.

They will have teeth at the water line and small slits/teeth in the center of them, to allow water to run through

Put a return pump in the middle, make it shoot water too the two out side pieces. a maxi jet would work well.

Put a return pump in the middle, make it shoot water too the two out side pieces. a maxi jet would work well.

I know a sump is a good thing to do but is it possible for this to work without 1?

Sure it is... Just a big canister filter lol... Put the return pump, lr, and chateo in the center with the skimmer or Hob filter.. Make the 2 dividers like 1.5" lower than the water line so they both spill into the center and have a lockline on both sides the return pump would feed... Simple and easy it could never overflow etc.. Pull the plug and nothing would happen the tank would act as a closed loop... Downfall is your gonna see you run out of room real quick...

I was thinking almost the same thing

This tank is the max that i can fit in the area where it will go..but i know ill run out of room fast

If i use live rock and some live sand, how long does the frag tank have to cycle?

Normally just a mini cycle nothing major... If you use rock and water from the display no cycle at all really... Use some mb7 and your really in the clear... I have cycled tanks in a week from scratch with that stuff... Lol

How much water from the display should i use in the frag tank? like 15 gal? 10 gal..then the rest be new water?

Why not just put the SPS / LPS up on a rack and leave the softies / nems on the bottom of the tank?

The problem with that is.............................


I have a pistol shrimp/shrimp goby pair in the 12 gal and a maroon clown in the 14gal...so the maroon will prob kill the goby if i put them together....

thats why im splitting the tank up
