Good Morning!

We don't have much snow left even though it was 12 degrees. This is a snow fence that we have near the major roads. It is supposed to keep the snow drifts on the other side of the fence than the road. This snow is on the wrong side of the fence and when it snowed it was deep here.

I passed this little icy pond today but I don't really ice skate any more. I used to jump over 50 gallon drums as a kid on ice skates.
Now, even if I could ice skate, I would hit the thing with my knees and and fall over while waiting for the EMTs.

On my way back. I felt like humming a tune by the "Doors" I don't know why.

Good morning everyone and happy Saturday!

Paul, those are drift fences and the snow is supposed to drop on either side to keep it from drifting on the road lol, i know, you know, but there are fence people and there are fence people.
I am taking the opportunity to do GPS maintenance. the GPS is taking the opportunity to do software maintenance. for some reason when i first got this Garmin thought it would work well on geo-cache-ing, or however that would be spelt. when i loaded a bunch of local caches, the verbiage that i was expecting to give me clues was not there. but a bunch of box symbols did fill up the map, Having no way to geocache with this thing, i have tried to eliminate them from memory on various occasions when i had time to kill in the car. no success. i thought that maybe if i hooked up to the computer i might be able to get in the memory corners and do a good deep scrub of the data. kind of like trying to get the GSP off of the rock it is invading. oh yeah the effort there has new baby GSP showing me the finger. anyway, plugged the garmin in and now I'm waiting cause, of course, there are updates... enjoy your Saturday!!

Mornin’ All!
Raining right now and the temps are dropping. Ice/snow expected to start later today and continue through tomorrow.
Heading out to Discount Tire (same as America’s Tire for those of you out west) for a rotate and balance ( lifetime free) on the Escape. Really happy with the new tires we got last year. Michelin Cross Climate 2. They were expensive but handle very well, are quiet and are speed rated.
Probably stop and load up on groceries on the way back home, just in case.
Have a great day everyone! EB741D60-D46A-447C-BBCB-FC9784032108.jpeg
Tire envy. That's a thing, right? When I curbed my tire I had to get 4 cause AWD. So I got some off brand cheap tires. All they had in town. They are made in Thailand and have lot's of interesting script I cant read on them. My car stays on the drive when there is snow. A hump made by a plow that froze would total it if I hit it.
Jill is retired. We can stay in bed all day until it melts.

Yeah, I think they installed the fence backwards because the snow is supposed to be on the other side. :p

We have them on the beaches also

But I think that is to keep the sand from going back into the sea. If all the sand went back into the sea, it would have a DSB and no one wants that. :D

Actually, we have 132 beaches here on Long Island which encompasses many miles. The sand naturally shifts, sometimes going into the sea and sometimes covering the roads.

We pump the sand back from the sea using big dredges. It's kind of cool but I am sure the local flounders and hermit crabs are not amused.

And you thought putting live sand in a reef tank was expensive. I bet this cost a few hundred bucks.

ReefGrammie. And I didn't even now you had an ocean in Tennessee. :D

If she needs help, I am a Captain and my boat is in the Atlantic. I just need five or six hours to uncover it and throw it back in the water.

You should look into these next time you need tires on the new Subaru Ned! They are a performance tire that is really sticky. No oversteer or under steer . We have put over 15k miles on them already and they show zero wear. We have 19” wheels and they are quite wide also. If I remember correctly, it was ~$1500 for four tires, four new TPMS & four protection certs that cover free R&B ,flat repairs, etc!

According to the owners manual you almost have to replace all 4 tires if you have a damaged tire. Even putting the same brand tire on that has less wear is a no no. Only replacing 2 is a no no. Rotate them and replace 4 at a time.
So I guess the best strategy is to run cheap tires. They seem to handle okay and even if they only go 20,000 miles they are well, cheap. $89 EACH. 4 on the car for slightly over $500.

It's a Subaru Impreza. Laughed at speed rated tires. My car will run 85-90 all day but I don't think it will go much over 105. There are very few tuner or turbo options out for it. I actually only know of one of each.
The ones I got are rated for 168mph so I think I am safe.

Good afternoon/evening,
Was walking around all afternoon wuth my wife and daughter avoiding the 12degrees back home with 70. Went to a Japanese Friendship Garden followed by stumbling into a cosplay contest. Really excited that there will be 6"-12" when I get home for skiing and I don't have to handle clean up!
