I did the first 3.5 months to allow my tank to develop biodiversity and microfauna before I added first corals and turned the lights on. Some choose this method others dont.Shall I keep the lights off?
So did you do all dry rock and no bacteria or ammonia?I haven’t put any chemicals in, it was filled with salt water, filtered, reef flow 2.0 in there, snails, crabs and cleaner shrimps, this has only happened rapidly over the last few days but I have had the lights on for 10 hours a day…..
Sounds like the tank wasn't properly cycled. But what do i know. It's not dinos in a tank that new. Green algae can pearl to. Diatoms produce air bubbles also and is typically the first ugly stage to show up.
OP you will get quite a few variations of ugly phase algae and bacteria over the course of the first year. Just part of the hobby.
