Really the hardest part is going to be the change, and I guess as we grow older it's something we're all a bit reluctant in going through. For a few weeks I've lost the bigger picture in all of this (as noticed by my earlier post) but when it all comes down to it, my wife has and always will suppot me and I will her. And that's what this is all about. A happy wife = a happy life!

Me too been in Durham 8 years... Weird to find a duke fan from KY

I took 2 bites and couldn't eat no more. Lol
Lol born and raised here and I really don't like the real vinegar type either . Some restaurants make it differnt and some also used mustard . There is a place I go to when I go to my mom's next to hickory called Hannah's bbq . They use cherry vinegar and I really like it but it's doesn't taste nothing like vinegar .

Phillip, I know exactly how you're feeling. Truly, I do. I grew up in New York about an hour and half from NYC. I decided to go to college at ECU because I wanted out of my town, and my sisters lived in Virginia. I figured it wouldn't be so bad since they were fairly close. Man, oh man, I was not prepared for the culture shock at all. I'm not going to lie to you, Greenville was not an easy place for me to live in. In fact, that's how I ended up in Raleigh. I transferred to NC State. I actually lived in Durham though. I lived in that area for a while, and it was definitely much easier living out there because there was just so much more to do. Fast forward through life events and I moved back to eastern North Carolina to be with my boyfriend. He couldn't move out of this area for his job, and to me he was worth it, so I moved out here. It's definitely not easy for me still, but I make it work.

Honestly, if you are able to explore different areas of the state when you are able to. There's actually a lot to see and do, and there are some beautiful places. Raleigh is only like an hour an a half from you, so you have that going for you. (It takes me 2 and half hours to get there, so I don't get there often.) There are museums and other things to do. I know you're a Duke fan so you have access to getting out there fairly easily too. Even if you just go out there and watch a game at a local bar it's pretty intense. College sports are big in this state. Being that your wife is going to be at ECU you'll have access to some cool sporting events there too. Check out the Outerbanks if you're a beach person. There are three separate aquariums for the state. One is in Pine Knolls Shores, which is right near where I am. There is one towards Wilmington as well at Fort Fisher, and I forget where the other one is right off the top of my head. They definitely are not huge aquariums, but they are decent, and I've been to the one by me 100 times and still enjoy going.

You had mentioned having a Reef2Reef group meet up. We should totally do that. I'm going to check out the New Bern area reefers facebook page as well, but maybe some of us can form a small area reef club. It would be a cool way to meet new people and we would all have something in common that we're passionate about.

PS When you and your wife make that BBQ invite me! Haha.

Living here I've been able 2 hit between 1 and 3 games a year. Needless to say I also know Indianapolis quit well lol. My wife will get her first experience of Cameroon Indoor this upcoming season.

I don't live there anymore but my wife and I did go to ECU and bought our first house in Winterville - it's a small world. ;)

This might be kinda silly, but with the news in Louisiana.....feeling a bit cautionary.
Back in 99 this whole area eastern NC flooded, and not like 2-3 feet. I was in HS at the time, and my parents place was safe but folks 5 houses down at the bottom of the hill...not so much. http://wnct.com/2015/06/03/a-look-back-at-hurricane-floyd/ Should look into the flood maps, lot of the homes that flooded were repaired and not all of them require flood insurance.

I double checked when we purchased, and the first place we where going buy was a newer home like 2013 found on the maps that it was a farmland back then and under 6 to 8 feet of water...NOPE.

Good point and we did also keep flood insurance on our home when we lived there, even though we weren't in the 100-year flood plain or whatever they called it. I remember walking on the third floor of the Howell Science Building and you could clearly see a watermark throughout the building which was apparently the high water mark for the storm, it was always crazy to think that the water reached that height

I'm sorry if I turned this to a weird totally off topic mood...really didnt mean too...suppose I was in one when I posted.

Upside back on topic...did get to check out Fintastic in cary... and I was impressed. The guys working there were knowledgeable.. and I was listening to them talk to other customers, kind and went out of their way to help me...when I mention I was from RM. Went to the back and brought out three cold packs for free and wrapped them in newspaper to keep frozen food cold on the ride home.
Stock on fish was kinda limited and low, but prices where very reasonable...but had plenty of room for more (guessing I visited on wrong day for full stock) Saw no signs of ich, or distress in any of the fish except one....who was by far the smallest maroon clown I've ever seen maybe a 1/5 inch...with torn up fins. They had him all by himself in the nano display for his own safety, as he was getting picked on. I'm ok with that. Was tempted by a puffer...but I'm always tempted by those....
Took a peek at the LR....some nice selective pieces.. like 15-19 inches long tonga branches, some shelf stuff both had nice purples.... IDK prices but to watch for cool accents pieces in there.
Asked if they dipped frags before putting them into frag tank, pest control. Got told all about how they pest dip, then FW dip before hand. (I dipped my corals when I got home....I killed a few pods nothing else)
Picked up two nice looking zoa frags (roughly 15 polys each) for a whole 10.00(BOGO) and would have gotten a BTA but I'm looking for a nice Other then Rose color (as I have two) and they had nice fat bubbly roses(for cheap!)...and they had one rainbow but he wasnt showing it off right then. Likely just BTA being a BTA PITA, likely was fine by the next hour, but I'm not buying a half deflated anemone even if I know they can be PITAs....

Overall I think it could be a Great LFS... I dont hit Raleigh a LOT but will swing by and support when I can. :)

Well by the end of this upcoming week I'll have my house in KY ready for market. Realtor thought I'd need a month and all I've needed is 2 weeks.

Haven't been as active on here lately but my house is 5 days from being made over and ready for market. Fresh paint inside and out, various new flooring put in, as well as some misc projects almost done.

Starting 2 see daylight!
