i was thinking of doing a grow out tank with some corals and i was thinking of having a refugium/sump that is actually larger than the grow out tank. i figured that it would have superior water quality all the time and also it would have small copepods and amphipods abundant for corals that would eat them. i was thinking like a 20 gal long and maybe a 30-40 gallon refugium/sump. is it a good idea or not, and are there any suggestions or maybe things I've missed. it wouldn't be a display tank just a grow out tank.:ooh:

Sounds like a nice plan. However you may end up regretting having the bigger tank as the sump when your corals grow out and you want more space.

Forgot to mention my grow out tank is 20L and I want more space. I keep acquiring corals, can't stop myself...

appreciate the info.... i have a larger display tank that id most likely put them into if it got over crowded... but like i said i appreciate the info... believe me i cant stop my self either i just have to take weeks off at a time from going to my LFS hahaha
