So I was having a issue with hair algea. During my water change I removed as much as I could by hand and sprayed the areas with hair algae with h202 But I may have sprayed tooo much. Refilled tank with 6g of freshly mixed temp and salinity matvhed water. Both my war corals browed up, my red monti cap bleached, my rfas are unhappy but still full of color. My duncan is shut and my frog spawn is also closed. Last night I did another 6g water change and the corals still look bad. Any recommendations as to how to procede. Should I keep water changing every few days or leave the tank alone and let it settle down.

Thankd in advance

Damage has been done. Cant go backwards. Because H2O2 is an unstable molecule - It naturally decays or breaks down into water H20 and the spare oxygen atom combines with another spare to form O2. At this point water changes will not help. The H2O2 is prob gone due to light exposure.

Running carbon will help rid the tank of it also, plus any toxins released by the corals. The 2 complete water changes you did diluted it enough.

My understanding is that H2O2 breaks down after 2 hours, so you are well past dealing with the direct reaction. Now it's just just waiting for them to recover. Have been doing a lot of reading on H2O2 myself lately, and it seems that you have to really work at it to have a big negative effect. In other words, if you didn't add a couple of gallons of it to your tank you SHOULD be able to expect them to recover. At least, so say the stats... I hit a couple of rocks and corals with it this weekend myself and still have some angry looking zoas. Just beginning to open up now and it has been 2 days...

purchased a few tiny bags of fluval carbon today and tossed in a bag earlier. now I am starting to see the corals begin to open up except the war corals so far, two snails are sticking to the top of the water level a nassarius and a turbo.

how are they, really these are expected to recover it would be rare to have a total loss from the events, curious for updates. that war coral should def, certainly survive it given time

They still look pretty rough today. Added a new bag of chemi pure blue today also. Here are some pics. The birdsnest was extending it feathers. The duncan is still semi hiding. The frog spawn is a big better extending a little. The anemones are pretty calm and my baby nems are good. The monti is still bleached.

Coralline is listed in the peroxide thread as a known sensitive but it comes back, each coral reaction as well/all expected to come back

You headed off a gha invasion pretty intently, nice job. It’s handy to pre test a section before upscaling, but even if that’s skipped nothing is out of pattern so far. Nice pics too, linked to our thread so others can proceed carefully
