Just as the title says... is my hammer coral not doing well or is it splitting? The tentacles in between the two mouths haven't been fully extending the past few days or say and not really sure why? Second picture is what it looked like when I got it

The picture definitely looks like a split to me. I did not know hammers split honestly. As long as the tentacles are extending looks to be alright.

If that is a single head in the second pic then it looks like a split in my opinion. Yes, branching hammers split new heads .

Thanks for your guys qyick responses! And Yes, it was a single "head" with 2 mouths when I first got it about a month ago. Didn't really notice until I posted this but it looks like the mouths are farther apart and the heads are starting to seperate/close off now.

No problem, glad we can help. That's a good sign and they'll be many more heads soon enough if your tank continues to stay happy. Nice job.

Awesome! That's what I wanna hear lol. The only other concern I have is that the tentacles aren't as long as most others that I have seen.. is it just because it's young or is it something else?? Again, thanks for the help!

I would think just give it some time. It should be fine.

It is a split... Hammers, Frogs and torches also like a little flow... Do you have any?
Yes, I'd say the tank has moderate flow. I have em in a lower flow area so they're not getting beat up but the tentacles do sway back and forth. I can try and get a video when I get home from work if it would help any.
