I'm looking into getting a Hanna checker for phosphates but not sure which model to get. Do I get the phosphate low range or the phosphorous ultra low range?

The low range is good enough, it will tell you PPM (part per million) the ULR with tell you PPB.

Thank you everyone. I ended up going with the ULR. I don't mind doing a little math to get better accuracy

I use the ULR, and enter the number into Apex Fusion, which does the math for me. Same with the Hanna Alk checker

I started off with the low range and migrated to the ultra low range. The two don't match very well. I will get a reading of 0.00 ppm with low range and 16 ppb (0.05 ppm) with the ultra low range. Annoying!

Currently I don't care so much about PO4 readings so I use low range and if it's 0.05 or lower I am happy. If it's over 0.05 I don't really care anyway because I don't have an algae issue.

That agrees within the stated accuracy. The low range range reads +/- 0.04 ppm, so if the value is 0.04 ppm, it could read anywhere between 0.00 and 0.08 ppm. :)
