Hardiest tang?

I want to get a tang (preferably a tomini tang) but I am unsure of which tang is the best for a beginner? I know that they are very susceptible to diseases and do not want to take that risk. What would you all recommend in terms of hardiness?

Also, not sure any are "hardy" I personally stay away from them!

My tomini is very hardy but I’m not sure if they are all that way. My yellow tang was my hardiest fish before he perished in a long power outage :( that guy didn’t get catch velvet during my velvet outbreak earlier this year. That fish was indestructible.

I would say Purple Tang. They do get aggressive but if it's the only tang, it should be fine. But as all fish especially Tangs, proper Qurantine is a must.

The Zebrasoma genus is full of hardy fish. Yellow, scopas, or purple are good choices...the two sailfins get too big and black and gem are outrageously priced.

Tomini, kole, truncated, two-spot are all hardy too.

My kole tang has gone through quite a bit and has always been fat and happy.

Everything I have read say the Purple Tang is a tough little dude. For example, when BRS had their Red Sea 750 crash due to a power outage. The Purple tangs survived when other fish died. That and other things I have read points to the Purple as a great fish to have in the tank.

Purples are great. They should be the last fish added.

To be honest while tangs get sick a lot much of it is from being stressed from a small tank. With only having a 100 gallon tank I would look for the smallest tang that you like to help reduce the stress from a tank that size.
