As for the film, you could try using a paper towel to soak up the oil sheen on top of the water. The other thing that works is take a small cup and stick it in the tank and slowly lower it so that just the top oily water cascades out of your tank and into the cup for removal. May need to do this a few times, however, these tricks work as I have used these methods when feeding my eel and anemones, oily fish
