Hey! Nice to meet you all :) I'm Lou. Ive been keeping freshwater tanks all my life but recently decided to try out my dream of having a saltwater tank.

I finally did it and bought the Fluval Evo (13.5G) a month ago. Things have been a bit rocky so far, with overtrusting my LFS, I got a lot of not so great advice (and not so healthy fish). Im not gonna let that get me down though! Still haven't lost a fish or coral yet, thankfully. Currently though my fish are in QT, but i will be sure to post pictures when my tank is back to normal. Cant wait to meet you guys!

Hi Lou and Welcome! I'm Lisa. Glad you joined. Sounds like you have amazing BBA - Bounce Back Ability - great life skill and wonderful for this hobby! PLUS, it sounds like despite rocks in your path, you've found your way over, around and/or thru them - WAHOO!!

Have you considered starting your build thread? I found its a great place to document my tank's evolution for myself. I started tank first then joined, so I'm still finding myself going back collecting pictures & updating historically as well as current state. Once you create your first post in your thread and link it to your account, they will give you build badge (look left, under my ID)

This might help you find people local to you in Nova Scotia:

This is a good reference book type online article I still review:

Hi Lou .
looking forward to seeing your new dream as it progresses and matures .
The first lesson learned in this frustrating but rewarding hobby is you can listen to advice but need to sort out the bs from what works .
Everyone has a way that works for them but to apply the theory that works the best for you is key .
Happy reefing . And again….. don’t hesitate to ask for help along the journey .
