I am a total beginner but have dreamed of having a reef tank for many years. I have decided that I have waited long enough and want to take the plunge. I also want to go straight for a large set up that I will be happy to build over time and not take it in small steps. I have decided on the Redsea Max S 650 as my tank of choice (not ordered yet) so just need to learn and build my confidence through the shared knowledge of like minded peeps. I have to work away from home a few nights every couple of weeks so it’s important the tank can take care of itself for these small absences so that also played a role in my choosing a fully inclusive ready to go systemwhere hopefully less is likely to go wrong, need tweaking on a daily basis??!! Any words of wisdom would be so gratefully appreciated. I would like to create a mixed fish and corals reef and have lots of exciting little critters mixed in. So exciting. Thank you for any guidance that you may have. Best regards, Jason.

Hello, Jason
You will love the S-650 and I have an 2013 S-400.

I'd buy an 4 stage RO/DI unit with an built in TDS meter right out of the gate.

Welcome to Reef 2 Reef :), and we hope you feel at home.

Welcome to R2R Jason! Great choice for a first tank.

As said above....read, ask questions, read, ask questions....repeat! You've come to the right place. Lots of knowledgeable folks who also want to help you be successful!
