Hello

Carrot welcomes Cheese!

My old 300 gallon tank had 2 overflows. The output to the sump was very slow for some reason. The dude “disconnected” one of the overflows by glueing glass to the overflow teeth. He said the tank was lopsided.

I was so annoyed and felt powerless. I felt stuck with a giant 300 gallon tank and never believed taking it out and replacing it was possible.

It was 15 years old by the time I learned enough to change it to my current tank.

The glass was about 0.5” thick or something like that which apparently was not good for a 32” tall tank. The seals were starting to fail and I didn’t know what to do.

The reason it was filled with bioballs was because the overflow water level was extremely low so it had to be filled to the top with bioballs to silence it:

The tank used laundry pipes to take the overflow to the sock compartment…

There was a giant, thick glass slab smack in the middle of the top which blocked most of the light. There would be a giant shadow in the middle, and it was impossible to attach corals to the center of the tank.

That arm grabber tool was my emotional support.
