Hello,
I have either a Brooklynella or velvet outbreak. Can any one help with identification? See pictures below.

At minimum it sure looks like Velvet. My fish, especially tangs, looked just like your when my tank got it. Clown's are typically Brook related, but I'm sure they could get velvet as well.

Regardless, get those out and get them in Copper Power or Chloroquin Phosphate (CP) ASAP. Difficult for fish to survive this onslaught.

Setting up first qt tank and going to buy another now. I have Mardel quickcure ich, should I do a 30-45 min bath before transferring them to qt? Also I have copper safe, can I use that?

Great thanks. How fast should I ramp up the copper?
Those fish need a pretty immediate full dosage IMO. I'd do half now and half in 24 hours personally. Generally it is 25% per day / 4 days. Hopefully someone will jump in and counter my statement if necessary.

Re: bath, do a freshwater bath for sure. Quickcure wouldn't hurt either.

Hello,

I would really familiarize yourself with both diseases. This looks like velvet, and being honest more than likely if it’s spread past the gills (where it starts first) it may be past the point of help. You should treat with a full dosage of copper along with antibacterial meds since that is always a secondary follow up infection. I would also add more air to the tank as well. How many days have they had this and is your qt already up and at full power?

Looks like velvet. Clowns are more prone to Brook but my based on photos I'd treat with copper.

Ramping copper levels 2-3 days to therapeutic levels but this all depending on the health of the fish. Time is of the essence with velvet and based on the pictures you need to act quick.

DO NOT use PRIME or any ammonia reducing agents in combination with copper.

Fresh water dip would be beneficial on healthy specimens who can tolerate it and will provide temporary relief but will be too stressful on those who are not in healthy state.

Not a terrible idea to add metro + kanna + focus to food. Add one dose of each to tbs of frozen food to help antibacterial issues that could arise.

BTW - What behavioral symptoms are they displaying? Are they swimming towards power heads? Are they still eating? Are they scratching or flashing etc?

This will help best to diagnose for sure its velvet. But almost 90% sure based on photos

I first noticed it 4 days ago. My spotted mandarin was not very active, but he was eating as the other fish as well are still eating as normal. 1st qt will be up in the next hour, I also have some Dr. Tim's one and only to Seed the tank with bacteria. What antibacterial meds should I dose with copper? I've had most of the fish for over 3 years and the last addition was the Naokos wrasse which was added about 8 months ago. Thanks for your help!

They are not swimming twords the powerhead or avoiding light, which is why I thought it may be Brooklynella and not Velvet. They are all eating as normal, even the ones that died.

I recently upgraded from 75g to 125g, which I found a guy on craigslist that delivers sw. That is the only thing that has been added to the tank in the last 4 months. We did have 2 power outages, but that was well over 2 weeks ago.

I cant get my hands on chloroquine phosphate, I have pretty much called every vet in the area the last 2 days and no one will prescribe it to me.
