Nitrates aren't likely to be at 0.5?

Phosphates at 0.5 aren't bad but they're for sure on the higher side.

Can you get a picture of your tank under white light so we can see what you're dealing with?

A fish and a shrimp with no cleanup crew is what you're describing. If you have no snails or hermit crabs, consider getting some? Turbo snails are great for GHA but they can be destructive in tanks with corals.

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

#WelcometoR2R

This is a great question for the R2R #reefsquad team 🙂
You need clean-up crew. If you don’t have anything which will remove or eat the hair algae it can slowly overtake time tank.

Your best bet now is to manually remove as much algae as possible and add clean-up crew to keep new growth in check.

For clean-up crew you can get snails and crabs. That size tank can also handle one tuxedo urchin. For herbivorous fish you could get an algae Blenny and a small tang like the Tomini.

I agree with the clean up crew!

As mentioned, what are your nitrates?
Reason being, if the ratio of N:P is really off you will have a very hard time dealing with algae of any type.
What other means of nutrient export are you using?
