Help: Ich

anyone have suggestions on clearing ich? I've tried to remove my fish from DT but cant, only way would be to break down the whole tank and thats not an option.

Feed a variety of healthy foods and supplements. I just battled this on my 215 with no losses.

If you want to totally clear the ich from the system you must clear the tank of all fish and leave it fallow for a minimum 8 weeks. The fsh need to be treated with hyposalinity or copper for 4 weeks then brought back to normal salinity or removal of the copper...

However if you are unable or unwilling to do this, you can continue to feed good food and keep your parameters in check. This will keep the fish's immune system up and as long as they are healthy you may be fine. No guarantees and any new fish you add has the risk of infection...

I tried hypo and copper with no success. My fish are healthy but have an occasional spot which I have been unable to determine if it is sand or ich, but more than likely sand.

What size tank?

I've tried a number of different treatments over the years Like medications , Garlic , Rising temperature , Lowering Sg,and the best Thing that work for me was to keep feeding them like pigs Ie Small amounts all through the day And every day until it's gone believe me it works

Ya just keep them fed well.Never remove a fish to treat for ick all it does is stress the fish more.

I'm currently battling the same thing and lost a few fish in the last few days. In the past I've successfully overfed and used garlic and the fish have recovered no problems with the infection only returning when I add new fish. Certain fish seem to be able to fight it off easier than others. I would recommend putting in some neon gobbies. Although its debatable these help, from my observation it definitely helps to reduce the discomfort of the fish and they will regularly go to get cleaned. I noticed the parasite got worse when my cleaners got stuck in the overflow and when i returned them it helped the their agitation and comfort.

I moved a few over to a hospital tank with copper this time and this is when i lost fish almost instantly. Verified the copper amount a couple of times and have ammonia checkers so I'm not sure if its the stress of the move or what. Im unsure now whether to move them back into the display or try hypo instead.

I've got a 90 gallon reef with a 30 gallon sump. I'll try over feeding, I'm using selcon and garlic guard now.

I have a similar set up and after trying every thing else and still losing fish, I'm pulling all the rock out to catch the fish and treat this problem properly.

I had luck with cleaner shrimp in the past.
