Hi everyone,

I am a new reefer and new to reef2reef.

After cycling my tank and adding my first fish, I thought it was finally time to take the plunge into corals. I bought a beautiful green ricordea covered rock from LFS, unfortunately though it has also come with bristle worms, and whatever these are in attached photo (and whatever else I haven't discovered yet!).

If anyone could please ID these guys for me, and if you have any advice over what to do would be much appreciated. This wasn't some random bit of live rock, I paid quite a lot o money for this from LFS coral display.

Thanks in advance for any comments, ID's or general advice :)

Looks like it has some type of tube- I’d guess colonial hydroids- some say the spread like crazy but that hasn’t been my experience with them

Thanks guys.

I don't think it is Aiptasia as there are multiple stalks sprouting from same hole, and when disturbed, they close up like a polyp rather than retreating completely into the rock.

I have managed to get a much better photo if it helps:

Thecate hydroids have a socket the polyp retracts into, there is a lot of species of thecate hydroid and i am unfamiliar with most still. very pretty find
