My newly acquired clownfish got spooked when introducing it to my tank and it jumped into my haddoni…😳
I was able to assist it’s release but now I need to ask what is needed to help it recover and heal.
It has been moved to another tank so it doesn’t end up back in the haddoni.

What next?
Stress coat? Melafix? Just leave it be?

Any and all experienced knowledge would be greatly appreciated!!!

TIA

Hi! I would just leave it be for the moment and see if it heals on its own. Watch for signs of infection. I would not recommend dosing any products that claim to increase the slime coat.

Make sure there is enough oxygen in the tank to help the recovery

Clown looks to be stung and needs treatment using seachem neoplex in a separate tank

How long after the sting event was this video taken?

Stress Coat or Melafix really isn't of much benefit - they are not "smart coatings" in that they don't differentiate between healthy and damaged tissue.

Unless a secondary infection sets in (think 2 to 3 days from now) I don't think you need antibiotics.

The main issue is if the fish can survive the initial sting and cell damage from the nematocysts.

Incident happened late last night and video was taken earlier today so less than 24 hrs.
It looks like it “wants” to eat but as you can see, it is certainly stressed and struggling a bit.
I’m getting NeoPlex now but should I wait it out or do as vetteguy suggests and just get it in a QT environment?

Rather than wait for any onsets, protect fish in advance. Yes they do endure stings but based on the type of anemone and fish appearance is why I suggested advance treatment

For sure the fish needs to be isolated. Be prepared with antibiotics if there is secondary infection, but for now, this is an acute health issue that you can’t really influence to resolve itself.

@vetteguy53081 @Jay Hemdal

Thank you both for your wisdom and assistance, unfortunately however, the little fella took a rapid decline in the last 12 hours and succumbed to its injury 😞

No matter how much you try to do all things right, this incredibly wonderful hobby still has moments of sadness, grief and guilt.

Feeling terrible and responsible for his loss 💔

RIP little one

Sorry to hear. As mentioned, infection suspected. I recommend quarantine of clowns especially wild caught ones
