Hi everyone, I’ve reached out on here a couple times before and had some good advice given so I’d like to reach out for some assistance again.

Long story short, just got back from a week vacation, auto feeder dumped the entirety of its contents into the tank (dry food) and now dealing with some dead coral, and bloom of hair algae. My question is what is the best and safest way to start to bring this tank back to a stable condition.

Here are the numbers pre and post vacation.

Pre:
Salinity: 1.026
Alk: 9.2
Calcium: 430
Phos: .1
Nitrate: 20-25 (salifert color charts)

Post:
Salinity: 1.026
Alk: 11
Calcium: 400
Phos: .69
Nitrate: 35-40

My plan at the moment is to do two 5 gallon water changes a week, and continue to run rowaphos (which I have always done even before vacation to help with phosphate control) and hopefully slowly bring the numbers back to pre vacation range as the tank was very stable with those numbers since I started it.

Thank you in advance!

I am sorry this happened to you. I think one way or another we all go through some sort of a disaster with our tanks. I had my pump failed and lost everything in the tank. Best way is to do water changes. You can do more aggressive water change instead 2 5gs a week but I dont know how big the system is.

Sorry to hear that, and yes I should have said that, it’s a 38 gallon AIO. Appreciate your input!
